The Shokh Hates Sieges mod prevents all factions from building new forts (while leaving existing starting forts intact). This reduces the number of pathfinding obstacles the AI has to calculate and has been reported to significantly reduce turn lag.

The single most effective "top fix" for modern systems running DarthMod is enabling the game to recognize more than 2GB of RAM.

The most permanent fix is to block the AI from pathfinding across the Bosporus entirely. This forces the AI to use naval transports instead of spamming land routes.
